Alternative to Silicon Chip
A graduate form Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Weixiao Huang’s invention could replace ‘silicon transistor’, which is one of the most common pieces in technology world.
This new transistor was made by a compound material called gallium nitride(GaN). This transistor could reduce power consumption and improves power electronic systems in many devices. It greatly reduces energy loss and makes energy conversion more efficient.
The replacement of existing Silicon transistors by this would reduce pollution and global fossil fuel consumption. This transistor allows the system to work in extremely harsh, hot and high power conditions. It also works efficiently in environments that produce radiation.
